Origins

Every origin in Fantasy MC, what it does better and worse, how origin skins work, and how to change your origin.

Every player picks an origin, a fantasy race, on first joining. The screen can't be closed until you choose.

Each edition has seven origins. Four are in both.

Size is how big you are compared to a normal player. It changes your model, your hitbox and your eye height.

  • At 1.25 and above you crouch through doors and two-high tunnels.
  • At 0.6 you can crouch through one-high gaps.

Specialty is 10% more damage with the listed weapons, in melee and with arrows. A thrown javelin gets no bonus. A Magic specialty is 10% more spell power in all six schools instead.

You can use any weapon with any origin. Every weapon in the pack belongs to one specialty. See Arsenal & Combat.

Origins have no abilities to press. Everything below works on its own.

Origin Skins

Your character wears a skin of your origin. Other players see it too.

  • Male or female: Most origins have a male and a female skin. Pick one with the ♂ and ♀ icons on the portrait in the origin screen. Until you pick, the game goes by your own skin: slim arms get the female skin.
  • One skin: Dwarf, Troll and Ogre have one skin.
  • Your own skin: Turn off the switch on the portrait. Everyone then sees your own skin. Your cape and elytra stay yours either way.

Press U in game to see your own origin. The switch works there, but the ♂ and ♀ icons are not shown. To change between male and female, use the screen an Orb of Origin opens.

Changing Your Origin

An Orb of Origin lets you choose again.

  • In survival it is found only in ancient city chests. Each chest has a 2% chance, which is about one orb in every two or three cities.
  • Use the orb to open the screen. If you close the screen, you keep the orb.
  • The orb is used up only when you pick a different origin.
  • Changing the ♂ and ♀ icons or the skin switch on this screen does not use up the orb.
